Michael Sack, the author of INDIA ON TRANSFERWARE, has been collecting English ceramics of the early nineteenth century for about thirty years. His transferware collecting has focused on exotic scenes, principally depicting India, China and the Middle East. He also collects the prints from which many of the transferware patterns were derived. In addition to the transferware, his collection includes English ironstone produced by Mason and many others, as well as a large group of porcelain teawares with chinoiserie patterns mostly made for the lower end of the market.
Michael has lectured widely on all of these subjects and has published, under the aegis of the Transferware Collectors Club, this book about Indian scenes on transferware.
Michael is a graduate of Cornell University and has been a practicing certified public accountant in San Francisco since 1967.
